I just ordered a copy of The Flavour Thesaurus, a beautiful reference book of pleasing food pairings- both the commonly used as well as the esoteric. In total, it lists 980 entries along with 200 recipes. A few surprising combinations include: black pudding & chocolate, lemon & beef, blueberry & mushroom, and watermelon & oyster.
This book is a foodie's dream come true! Unconventional recipes will ensue, indeed.
