April Food Day

It is sometimes hard to believe that in a country like America where obesity is an epidemic, millions of people are suffering from hunger. In reality, 1 in 6 Americans don't get enough to eat. And with the tough economic climate, this statistic has worsened dramatically.

Today I am honored to participate in April Food Day. Thanks to bloggers Pigstown Design and Easy and Elegant Life who started this cause last year, more Americans than ever are focusing on the problem of hunger.

A few months ago, I had the opportunity to tour the local Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville. The place is huge! Even though the warehouse is packed full of donated items, I was amazed to learn that the need in the community is so great that without continually replenishing their stock all this food would be gone in a matter of days.

Please consider making a donation to Feeding America on this important day by donating here. Every dollar contributed to Second Harvest can provide up to 9 pounds of food for a needy individual.
