Ottoman Empire

Here are pictures of my two ottomans. They were my mother's, which she had custom-made in Houston about 15 years ago. I've had them for about 7 years now myself and needless to say, they have been through several moves and households starting with my college days.

Even though the star and moon motif isn't" in" anymore I still like their unique shape. I will eventually reupholster them and bring them back to life.

These are some of my favorite ottomans right now. So much to love!

There is nothing special about the shape, but this Target ottoman shows that you can turn a simple piece of furniture into something bold and modern with a fresh fabric.

These two ottomans are from Restoration Hardware. I love the earthy, simple fabric.

Absolutely stunning from Horchow. I can't imagine how long this piece took to make.

Refinishing

If you're an avid Craigslist furniture-watcher like me, you know there are so many diamonds in the rough out there waiting to be made pretty again. I've been looking for a new desk for some time now to refurbish. I've found a few choices in the past, but none of them have worked out. Today, however, I found this beauty.

I'm extra excited that it has a glass top making it more durable and ideal for any late night studying that may be taking place.

Many bloggers out there have done an outstanding job of refinishing old furniture. I'm especially inspired by these pieces:

Since this desk comes with a glass top, I'm thinking about doing a fun chevron pattern on the surface. It will take time, but I know it's going to look amazing. Sunset Magazine has a great tutorial. I'm so excited!!

Affordable Headboards

We all know Nate Berkus is an accomplished designer. And many of us are aware that some of his designs are available on the Home Shopping Network. But, has a single one of us ever checked them out? Well, today I did, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a selection of beautiful upholstered headboards for sale.

Whether you want tufted, arched, or nail head trim HSN got it and for much less than stores like Pottery Barn or Ballard Designs. Here are some of my favorite choices.

So glad I stumbled upon these!
