My favorite homes always reside in either Boston or Charleston. Although I'm not quite sure why I am drawn to these cities, I suspect it's because of the sense of history and undeniable charm they both maintain.
58 South Battery is the former home of John Blake, a captain in the Continental Army, member of the South Carolina General Assembly, and president of the Bank of South Carolina. Constructed in 1800, it has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Designed with both Georgian and Federalist style features, the high ceilings, original moldings and exquisite chandeliers invoke a sense of refinement and formality. The owners did a splendid job maintaining the garden and updating the home to modern standards. I'm particularly drawn to the wide plank pine floors, macabre color scheme and arched doorways. What a truly inspirational property, both inside and out!
