News Flash!!

via LEB: Domino is back, baby! The design world will be rejoicing with this news.

Silk Scarf Pillows

I love the sophistication of a beautifully-crafted silk scarf. Sometimes I struggle to wear all my scarves on a regular basis though.

For my new apartment I thought it would be great to incorporate a few of my scarves in to the design of the space. Martha Stewart has a very easy tutorial on how to make silk scarf pillows on her website that I'm going to try. It's such a unique way to add a pop of color and interest to a room.

Another idea is to frame scarves. I'm imagining a colorful interest wall full of vintage silk!

Schumacher

I LOVE Schumacher and have for years. Arguably, they make some the most stylish and sophisticated textiles on the market. Here are a few of my favorites.

Whether you are looking for something traditional or modern, they've got it. The catch? The price!

Follow Friday

Today when I visited blogger friend Olivia's site, For Me, she had posted her current favorite follows as of late. Not only do Olivia and I have the same name and haircolor, we also both have blogs. I love the ladies I've been able to get to know through the blogosphere.

For Me, Olivia's blog, is a definite favorite.

Also, I'm loving:

Don't forget to list your favorite blogs at For Me.

Beach Wear 2010

I'm going to West Palm Beach in 9 days! Can't wait. And I can't help but think about all the cute outfits that I could be wearing while we're there.
I love this Trina Turk swimsuit available at Victoria's Secret. It's on sale right now for only $59. I'm still contemplating, however, if I'm too old to wear this!
Adorable and durable at J.Crew
Rikshaw design is known for beach-worthy baby clothes, but they make a few clothes for adults, too. I love this summery tunic.
Rompers are very stylish right now and this one is only $14.50 at Forever 21.
I forbid myself from buying expensive sunglasses given that I have a tendency to either break or misplace them. These rose colored sunglasses from Ann Taylor are $49, a price point I'm comfortable with.

Lilly Pulitzer embodies summer wear in my opinion. If I could splurge on anything this summer it would be the Raquel dress at $258 and this adorable straw bag for $228.

Mike Miller for West Elm

What's my favorite part of West Elm's new amazing fall preview? It's artist Mike Miller's featured silhouette art work. It looks great against a bright colored wall or in a neutral space.

West Elm is going for a great new look this fall. Can't wait to check it out in person.

What's Your Style Part III

Ally from, From the Right Bank, has put out a wonderful challenge to her fellow bloggers to come up with a photo representing their style. Here's mine! I'm calling it "casual eclectic." I love everything about this room, including the room's design Monelle Totah, head designer for Williams Sonoma Home.

So what do I love about this space? Let me count the ways...

Photo from Elle Decor
1. The furniture is neutral and colorful accents are brought in to give the space character and depth.
2. It incorporates a trend. Do you notice the faux bamboo dresser? I love it! It is so "in" right now.
3. A touch of elegance. The chandelier brings a sophistication to the space.
4. Modern art paired with traditional furniture. This is definitely my look. I find that when modern art is with modern furniture the space can look, well, too modern. And when everything is traditional in a room, it can look too dated.
5. A contemporary patterned rug to define the space.
6. A punch of color. Accomplished here with bright art and orange accents.
7. Bringing the outdoors in. The beautiful flower and bowl of fruit soften up the space.
Great challenge, Ally!!

Wanna Buy It Wednesday: 3664 22nd Street, San Francisco

3664 22nd Street is nothing short of awesome. Located in the Noe Valley area of San Francisco, it was recently constructed this year. Although it's new, it certainly maintains a historical charm. With over 3,000 square feet, 4 beds and 4.5 bathrooms, it is on the market for 2.9 million. I love the paint colors and high quality materials used in this home.

Rooftop deck off the master.

Subzero appliances, glowing hardwoods and a wine fridge. The kitchen and some of the bathrooms also have Cararra marble countertops.

At first I thought this tub and floor were painted, but that's actually tile. Exquisite.

And the backyard, which I consider to be the grand finale. It is a perfect entertaining space.

Summertime Reading

I'm heading to the beach with my family in a few weeks and cannot wait to spend my days soaking up sun while reading a great book. One of the reasons I love summer so much is that work slows down and I have time to catch up on my reading.
I've picked out a few novels to tide me over for the next few months. Here are my suggestions if you are looking for an entertaining story or two.

A historical novel:

I love Thomas Jefferson and I loved this book. It was my first read of the summer and Ellis' entertaining account of Jefferson's life and legacy really got my palette wet for more books to come.

Something to give you goosebumps:

I just started this book last night. If you are looking for an entertaining mystery I would highly recommend it. My mom actually read this book before me and loved it!

A few of the classics:

Who doesn't love Poe, Hemingway, Joyce and Hawthorne? I don't read enough of the classics so this book is my chance to do just that.

A book that's personal:

When I saw the title of this book I thought that it surely couldn't be about the Citrus County where I grew up. But it is! And yes, I'm going to read this book just for that reason.

To Make You Laugh:

I've heard Sedaris on the radio before and he's hilarious. This book came out a few years ago and I've been meaning to read it for some time now.

What's on your reading list for the summer?

IKEA... Love??

For so long I was anti-Ikea. Everything I saw from the store looked cheap and way too modern for my taste. But lately, Ikea has really been winning my heart and the good news is that all of their products are still cheap (but in a good way)!
This bed is only $399
Only $99 for this bed frame
Sleeper sofa for $649

So, do you have a special place in your heart for Ikea? What's your favorite item from this store? I would love to hear!

I'm Back!

I wish I could say I've been on an exotic vacation for the last several days, but in fact, I've just had a really bad few weeks. Now it's time to get back to business and begin blogging again. For starters, how about these amazing Chinese Chippendale chairs featured on the Simplified Bee? Loving them!

Also, check out this Chivairi Lucite chair from Room Service.

And these Parker Sand sidechairs from Overstock would be perfect with my new dining room table. Great scale, nice linen fabric and the nailhead trim is my fav.

Nothing cheers me up like a few chairs :) Happy Tuesday.
